Energy
The consumption of energy is often synonymous with discharge of the greenhouse gas CO2. An increased amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere can in the longer-term cause global climate changes. It is therefore imperative that the energy consumption and as a consequence the CO2 emission is reduced.
Agriculture’s energy consumption in the primary production constitutes approximately 4% of Denmark’s total gross energy consumption. In addition to this agriculture consumes energy for production and transport of feedstuff, commercial fertilizer, lime and pesticides. The potential of saving energy in the agriculture and thus reducing the CO2 emission is therefore very large.
