Scan-Airclean Wins Award

Scan-Airclean was honored with the Funen County environmental award 2004.

Scan-Airclean received the award for the development of an air purifying system that both reduces the ammonia emission in pig-farms as well as removing unpleasant smell associated with such production facilities.

Scan-Airclean’s air purifying system removes 90-95% of the ammonia, approx. 95% of the dust within the air, and 25-75% of the smell. Another positive feature is that the rest product can be used as liquid fertilizer.

Neighbors to pig-farms that have air purifiers installed will experience a large part of the smell disappear as well as they will encounter lesser problems with moss algae on roofs and buildings.

The system has shown to perform so well that the Funen County’s traffic and environment committee in connection with a extension of a pig-farm in Birkende decided that it is not necessary to develop new plans including EIA reports for the region. Partly because the pig-farm had installed Scan-Airclean’s air purifying system.

All together 8 of Scan-Airclean’s air purifying system is implemented on farms and biogas plants. Depending on the setup, the air purifying system can clean 50, 70, or 90 per cent. The cost of implementing the air purifying system on a pig-farm with 9000 pigs is approx. Dkr. 325.000. Additional cost associated with the system is 2 dkr. Per pig if a 50% reduction is chosen.
