Energy
The consumption of energy is often synonymous with discharge of the greenhouse gas CO2. An increased amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere can in the longer-term cause global climate changes. It is therefore imperative that the energy consumption and as a consequence the CO2 emission is reduced.
Management of climate in green housing embraces control of temperature, light, humidity, and CO2 concentration. Climate is regulated through heating systems, windows, curtain, artificial light and dosing of CO2. Regulations are done through computers, that enables the manager to store information for later use.
A series of mehtods have been developed in order to reduce energy consumption within horticulture. These methods go from simple or automatic energy and climate control to advanced constructions of green house roofs. The potential of saving energy in horticulture and thus reducing emission is great.
